Mayet Andreassen is both an artist and an educator whose core philosophy centers on promoting artistic and creative excellence in her students and herself. By striving to fully prepare her students for the realities of working as professionals in their respective fields, Mayet has both furthered her education and knowledge, finding inspiration to both create and promote new works of art. She recently had the opportunity to inspire a new generation of artists by working as a consultant at Game Worlds summer camp, voted one of the best summer camps in the “Best of Austin 2015” by the Austin Chronicle.

Mayet is currently working as a full-time Instructional Assistant Professor in the Department of Visualization at Texas A&M University.  She is also the Internship Coordinator and Chair of the Viz Industry Fair Committee. Previously she worked as a part-time instructor at The HOFT Institute Game Lab, as well as an adjunct at UT in the AET Department.  She also previously taught as a full-time faculty member at the Art Institute of Austin in the Media Arts & Animation, and Game Art & Design programs.  She has taught as a part-time instructor at Gemini School of Visual Arts where she taught Storyboarding and Gesture Drawing.  In the past, Mayet has trained fellow faculty on an LMS system ad been co-head and a member of various committees.  She is teaching advanced Maya classes in lighting, rigging, and texture creation.  Other classes she has taught include Background Layout and Desing, Final Project, Character and Object Design, and Production Team.

Mayet’s previous work experience is in the games industry, working as an artist at 2K Sports/Visual Concepts Entertainment in Novato, CA., where she modeled, textured and animated interactive menus and UI using 3D software. She also worked on props, modeling, and textures of character faces, trophies, and stadiums. Other games experience includes contract work for Zynga Games. While at Zynga she created art assets for 8 MMO games on Facebook and Myspace, which included Space Wars, Football Wars, Fashion Wars, Dope Wars, Bumper Stickers and Heroes versus Villains.

Along with being an educator and working in the games industry, Mayet is a freelance illustrator, designer and 3D modeler for commercials, independent film, and individual clients. She is also a Board member of the non-profit TXMPA (Texas Media Production Alliance), and part of the Panel Picker Advisory Board for SXSW EDU. She earned her M.F.A. in Film and Animation from The Academy of Art University in San Francisco, and her B.F.A in 2D Animation and Illustration from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
